Jacksonville is 15 minutes northeast of Little Rock on U.S. Hwy 67/167 and Interstate 440, providing easy access to Little Rock National Airport and Little Rock River Port , as well as Interstates 30 and 40.

With a population of 31,500, the city is a good mix of urban and home town. A diverse blend of cultures is the result of Jacksonville serving as home to the world’s largest C130 transport aircraft training facility, Little Rock Air Force Base. The base employs 6000 active duty military personnel and 1200 civilians, gaining the distinction of being the largest employer in the state.

Service men and women separating from the military often choose to make central Arkansas their permanent home, citing the sincere friendliness of the people, low cost of living, moderate climate, abundance of job and recreational opportunities, and the central location within the United States. These well-trained individuals provide an excellent addition to the local workforce.

Working cohesively toward a common goal is a well known characteristic of the business leaders of the city of Jacksonville . One example is the innovative partnership between its citizens and Little Rock Air Force Base which will build a technologically elite Education Center outside the base gates in 2007.  Currently located within the base, the center offers two year, four year and advanced degree programs from seven colleges. The new facility will be open to military and civilian students.
