Carlisle, the "Pride of the Prairie," is a friendly, close-knit city adjacent to one of the nation's busiest transportation corridors, Interstate 40. The state capital, Little Rock, is only 32 miles to the west, while Memphis, Tennessee, is 90 miles east. The city is also accessible to other major interstate systems, airports, and river ports.
As a result of diligent economic and community planning efforts, Carlisle is recognized by the Arkansas Department of Economic Development as an Arkansas Community of Excellence. Its city, business, and community leaders are committed to expanding existing industry as well as creating new jobs for residents and newcomers. The Carlisle Economic Development Corporation is a body of leaders who coordinate Carlisle's business development strategy.
One of Carlisle's major assets is its municipal airport, which features two 4,500-foot runways, Precision Approach Path Indicator landing system, beacon lighting, self-serve aviation fuel available 24/7 and a pilots lounge.
Carlisle's public school system provides residents with an outstanding and well-rounded education in a safe and healthy environment. The teacher-to-student ration is low, allowing for closer supervision and individual attention.
Carlisle utilizes an emergency medical ambulance service and has a volunteer fire department. The city is part of the ARcare Network (Baptist Health Affiliate), which has a fully-staffed medical clinic. For more involved medical care, Carlisle is only 30 miles from North Little Rock Baptist Hospital.
Known for its deep agriculture heritage, Carlisle provides hometown atmosphere with quiet, safe neighborhoods where children can play outside, people can go for evening walks, or neighbors can visit from their front porch.
